Mobile tools have come a long way. I depend on a free coin identifier app almost daily and find it very reliable for the majority of coins. The image recognition works well under normal lighting. I’ve identified thousands of coins with it and only rare or extremely worn pieces need extra research. The convenience of doing everything on my phone makes collecting much more enjoyable.
